I was very disappointed in Flounders. We got there fairly early to beat the dinner crowd and sat on the patio outside. Our waitress stopped by right away but then disappeared for quite some time and we had only ordered waters while we read over the menu. When we decided we were ready to order she was no where to be found. I imagine she had inside tables as well so she was having a difficult time keeping up. Although not a very large place. Once I finally ordered I decided on the fish tacos. They were more like fish quesadillas. Melted cheese and chopped red peppers were all I could taste. I was not impressed at all by service or food. It's not likely I'll be back.

This just WAS NOT the amazing, fresh seafood that you should have in a beach town. I ordered fried pickles (they're long spears and the batter fell off), I got the mahi mahi medallions over pasta... it was gross... wet noodles with no sauce and dried little fish nuggets without a trace of season. I sent it back and had it removed from the ticket. The rest of the party said their food was good - seafood burrito, admiral's platter and blackened flounder. The tastiest part were the hushpuppies that were sweet and had sweet corn inside. Our waitress lost points really quick after forgetting our drinks, not getting us refills, asking us four times how to split the tickets, ugh.. She seemed to be high or incredibly incompetent. Will not be back - even with my meal taken off and just one other entree and appetizer, it was $50. Ridiculous.

Cold food, over market priced for a fish sandwich, tons of flies and the men's bathroom was a mess. Even the trash was overflowing BECAUSE it was full. Sad part was their were at least 5 employee's at any given time standing around the bar. First and last time for a 22 year local from Cherry Grove. Friday PM after Labor Day week-end.

World famous my a**. They gave my grandma a rotten fish on her flounder salad. We told the waitress who was very nice, but the manager only took off 25% when he should've comped the entire thing and brought out a fresh plate. Poor granny needed her protein and strength for the day. Next time we'll go the extra mile and eat at Crab Catchers or Sea Captains. Hell, even Duffy's is better than this place. Beware! My world famous flounder sandwich had the tiniest piece of fish on it so all I tasted was the bread. But hey, the waffle fries and hushpuppies were OK, so I'll give 'em a star. Hopefully they'll read their reviews and improve before they flounder out.

Do not go here. The food was horrible and so was the service. Neither my wife or I could not eat our meals they were so bad. Then when we told our server she said sorry as she handed us our check. I got blackened fish with grits and she got chicken fingers and fries. How do you screw up chicken fingers? I wouldn't eat there again if it was free.

We were staying just down the street and Yelp gave us the hint to stop in. So glad we did. The food was very good and service was great. The portions were healthy. If you're looking for some well prepared seafood, I would highly recommend.

Three stars for the food, it was average. Shrimp and grits were ok but I've had better further inland. The crab dip was pretty good and the fried pickles were your run of the mill fried pickles. $5 drink specials (at least during the week) weren't too bad. The fourth star is for an awesome waitress with a great personality - those are often hard to come by any more.

Pretty good food. It's a great place to visit in the off season, so expect huge crowds and waits in the summer months. The big seafood platter was excellent. Crab cakes are inconsistent. Cold beer!

If 0 stars were an option I would, for the first time ever, given it. Chose this place based on its proximity to our rental while on vacation. When we were seated many other patrons were sitting around us complaining about wait time. Then the table behind us left with much of their food still sitting there. We thought they had gone to the bathroom but never returned. We ordered an app that never came and our waitress said she wasn't familiar with the menu because she was called in from a sister restaurant down the road. When the food arrived it was nothing like the menu description and was cold. I ordered teriyaki fish tacos which were supposed to be dressed with cabbage, pico and queso... which was not existent. In short, it was a long wait for food that was cold, inedible and overpriced.

First of all, there were so many more workers than there were customers, so many of them were simply standing around doing nothing. Most of the people in our party didn't mind their food, but it was by no means fantastic and I in fact hated mine. We had to be seated outside and our party of eight was separated into two different tables. One person in our party received her food about 10 minutes after everyone else. Sand blew in our faces and plates the entire time we ate. It was an overall terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The food here was excellent! We came as soon as it opened (11am). We decided to try this restaurant because of the proximity to the Wyndham hotels. The Crab Dip was filled with crab and was one of the most delectable things we had. My father had the blackened flounder on sliders and I had the Crab cake on the brioche. Both were brought out exceptionally quick and the food was very fresh. The sweet potato fries and the old bay waffle fries were also a great part of our sandwiches. Our server was very fast and attentive to our needs. The type of music was sort of off putting, but the rest of the environment was sound and very relaxing. This is one of the best, if not the best, seafood you will get in Myrtle Beach. The price was fairly cheap for the quality, ranging from around $9.00-$30.00 with many different menu options.

Another great meal at this quaint fish "shack". Shrimp chef salad is chock full of great bites and comes with a side of addictive cornbread. My daughter had the crab quesadilla, which was so big it will also be lunch tomorrow. Big Mike was an attentive and fun server. Can't wait to go back.

We gave this place a try after seeing it being built a few months ago. Really nice staff. The atmosphere on the second floor was very pleasant. The food was pretty good too. The shrimp and grits were decent. The kids ate all their food. My wife enjoyed her buffalo shrimp tacos. The price was on par with others, such as Duffys down the road. I would probably go back. However, there are a lot of restaurants similiar to this place.

I was on vacation with my family last week, and they told me how great it was. Unfortunately, my experience was not anything close to great. We sat upstairs, and the service was pretty terrible, to put it lightly. I ordered a Pepsi, and my father and brother ordered a couple beers. The beers came, the Pepsi did not. After waiting approximately 10 minutes, I told another waitress we were waiting on a Pepsi, and she brought one after our waitress seemingly disappeared. The Pepsi was really just a full cup of shaved ice with about 4 drops of Pepsi. I was stunned. Our original waitress suddenly reappeared with our food. The chicken sliders were actual chicken strips on a mini bun- definitely not a "slider." I also asked during my initial order for a side of BBQ sauce which also never came. The hush puppies were actually pretty good, and I sampled some of the fried shrimp that my father ordered- this is the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. I recommend sitting downstairs, they seem to actually pay attention to their customers.

The service was good and the good was great ! I had the crab cake sandwich with the old bay waffle fries . Had to go to the bar for drink refills .

Ordered the crab cake sandwich and it was very tasty. Wasn't expecting the good taste. Complimented with old bay waffle fries which were also very good. And of course topped it off with a rum fish bowl! Very surprised by the experience. Right off the beach, good experience.

Very great servixe, loved their oysters and platter :) A little over priced but nice place right on north Myrtle. Neat rooftop seating area.

Not impressed. I side smells like fish - they need a new exhaust system. Apps were so-so. We had the fried asparagus and grit cake. Unimpressed. Ordered flounder sliders w fries. Fries were cold, condiments weren't ripe. Also had crab cake sliders. They were okay. Would not recommend. They also charge a hosp CO fee to my bill. What! We were informed it is because we were tourists. Really. Across the street is Basils - go there - it's worth the wait.

Excellent NY strip, Crab Meat, and shrimp with a garlicky hollandaise sauce drizzled over, also with a side of hushpuppies. The steak has a tangy steak sauce taste that plays well with the garlicky seafood flavor. The hushpuppies were not cooked to long allowing a moist and sweet corn taste in every large munchkin sized ball. The prices are well worth it with large portions, great service, cleanliness, and the greatest quality I have yet to see in the Cherry Grove/ North Myrtle area.

Had high hopes for this perfectly located dinner spot. Were seated at bar stools overlooking Ocean Drive and the Grand Strand. Hopes were dashed by a kitchen that had no idea what they were doing. Service was fine, food was actually pretty good, but waiting an hour on basic menu items not acceptable. Also not acceptable: having to get up and get silverware from another table. Seriously? Restaurant 101: make sure your table has napkins and something to eat with. Ended up getting dinner to go, and shared our disappointment with the manager, who was eager to give a discount that we appreciated. Overall, just disappointed in a new restaurant that seemed none too concerned with making a good impression and more concerned about doing the least to get by with the tourist crowd. Is it too much to ask for a decent local seafood place?

We tried Flounders tonight and really enjoyed it. The waiter was very attentive and provided great service. It was his first day on the job and told us up front he may have to ask a few questions and to be a little patient. He was great. We understood that Flounders has only been open two weeks and they are refining their system. Reading the other two reviews, I would say our experience was MUCH better: it appears the team is working well together now. Flounders has a great, light batter they fry in. We started with fried pickles, just because I love them, and I knew right off that my fried platter was going to be great because the batter on the pickles was fried to a light perfection. My fried oysters and shrimp were as expected, awesome! My wife had fried flounder and loved it. She had a side of sweet potato fries that she loved too. The portion sizes are very generous and the prices in line with most seafood resturants around. Another happy note: in over 30 years of eating oysters, tonight was the first time I found a pearl. Thank you Flounders. We will be back. Often.

Food was good. Recommend the blackened flounder and the crab dip. The fried pickles were good. Sliders were way tooo salty. I would like to try it again on a slower night.

Food was priced reasonable... Visited in the off season and they were rather busy. Do not think they were prepared for the business. Food took a while to come out... When it did one order was wrong ... Sides were missing... Out of coleslaw... Etc. crab cake sandwich was barely warm once arrived.

Great service- very friendly. Excellent margaritas b/c a double tequila shot was on special. The food was your typical beach seafood. Not great but not terrible. I had the crab cake sliders. I normally love crab cakes but there were more peppers and onions in them than I care for. There was very little breading which was nice. My husband had the stuffed flounder but said it was under seasoned and fairly bland. My husband said he would return next year but only if he was too drunk to drive somewhere else.

Service was great! I had the blackened flounder sandwich and it was amazing, while my friend went with the crab stuffed flounder and he thought it was great too. The flounder sauce was delicious as well. Definitely will return to try other things.

I too wish NO stars was an option. We were seated downstairs and we sat at our table for 10 minutes before our waitress stopped by. Even the hostess stopped by after like 7 mins and asked if our waitress had checked on us. We immediately ordered drinks and the crab balls. The bartender clearly doesn't know how to make drinks. My Hurricane (which is feature on the placard on the table, indicating it's a signature drink) was terrible. Just a sweet mess that I had to ask them to top off with tonic. My fiance's Highball was just a shot of Jack Daniels over ice. HUH!? He explained what a highball was and the waitress said the bartender didn't know how to make it! LOOK IT UP ON YOUR PHONE! Crab balls arrived cold and we had no silverware. Took another 5 mins to get silverware, making the balls even colder. They were bland with no flavor and served with no sauce. We asked for flounder sauce, which was the only flavor they had. They seemed to be burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Dinner was Shrimp and Grits (in a cake format) with questionably undercooked shrimp and andouille sausage. I had blackened flounder (absolutely NO flavor - how can blackened be flavorless?). The sauces I doused it in were the only flavor. Both of us actually felt sick 1-2 hours later and I have an iron gut. The waitress was completely incapable of serving one table, let alone several. She was singularly task driven and was terrible at that. She would bring food to the table next to us and disappear - not even remembering when she saw us that we needed silverware, water, etc. After barely eating half of our meals, we had to ask for the check (waiting another 10 minutes for her to bring it). She never even asked if we wanted to box up the ridiculous amount of food we left. Maybe she knew we wouldn't take that crap with us. Bad service, bad drinks, bad food, overpriced. No way this place survives without a complete 180.

My husband and I ate here Saturday at the beginning of bike week. Got quick service and yummy $5 margaritas. We shared a shrimp platter and it was great size for both of us to be just pleasantly full. The shrimp was so yummy and really good sweet potato waffle fries.

Delicious!!! Fav place now in Cherry Grove. So many options and fresh flounder options. Flounder chowder is to do for and the sweet potato fries! I love this place. Great outdoor dining!

We got the admirals feast and crab cakes both served with the waffle sweet potatoe fries. Both were delicious. It was alot of food, definitely could have shared a meal. Ask for the flounder sauce for the crab cakes. We were also there for happy hour; double shot mixed drinks. The Creamsicle and the strawberry/banana flavor were both absolutely delicious! We ate outside on the patio, the rooftop was too hot. Definitely recommend!

Have to say I use yelp ALL the time when I travel to get honest reviews or to find a great new spot, but never write reviews. Tonight I was so impressed by the service and the food I saw coming out of the kitchen I had to write a review. The staff is great everyone from the host to management. Having been in the biz I consider myself incredibly picky, but this was great. Pickle spears were wonderful and the cocktails too. Looking forward to having a full meal soon!

We walked in and were really impressed by how clean the restaurant looked. The cleanliness is the only thing impressive about this place. We waited 15 minutes for a menu, we were a party of 2 and there was one other party of 2 in the place. We ordered a meal an an appetizer. After waiting for 25 minutes for our app we were told we don't have onion rings. We nixed the app and then continued to wait for our food. Another 25 minutes went by before we received our food. When the meal arrived it was not what we had ordered( waitress did not write it down) but we decided to keep it because I didn't have another hour to waste waiting on the correct food. The food wasn't great it wasn't terrible but certainly not worth the wait. I would definitely encourage people to pass on this place.

Was very excited to try a new local spot in North Myrtle Beach yet left disappointed and with take out boxes. After being greeted by someone who needs an English 101 class, we were seated after 45 minutes wait. Our view was good if you consider overlooking cooling units and crowded into a corner good. Menu offered a large variety with wonderful fried asparagus and a tasty crab dip. We tried to order a white wine to enjoy with our seafood and were offered one Chardonnay and white zin - ugh. After ordering dinner -- 55 minutes later still no food. We asked for our meals to be boxed up and left. If Flounders expects to keep business, they'll get the kitchen act together - and stop catering to weekly tourists. It's worth a drive to go else where.

We tried Flounders for lunch. The blackened flounder sandwich and sweet potato fries were excellent. The order took a little longer than expected, but the service was still satisfactory.

Went for lunch today, too hot for upstairs but great views! Had the salad with fried shrimp, was more than enough for lunch. Great service! Very attentive staff. Menu is extensive, maybe too big for kitchen but they will figure that our. Obviously a lot of flounder choices but plenty of other seafood as well. Hoping they will be open all winter so we can continue to enjoy.

Not lying, the worst meal I have had since the 90's. We are essentially locals as we come to North Myrtle throughout the year so we are always looking to support new establishments, spread the word, etc. This place is a dump. A disaster. They take the word 'dive' and just rake it through the coals. Where do I start? We sat at the bar and ordered drinks while we waited for our upstairs, outside table. Bartender was nice. We thought it was weird that we had an intimate, 10 ft view of the kitchen and the cooks (not chefs), but we said 'whatever'. We were seated quickly. Our server was busy. We opened the menu to find that it was likely laid-out by a blind person with no sense of categorization. Not a big deal you think? Think about reading a menu with the dishes all being mashed together, left side instead of right side. It was just subtly awkward. That says to me you either don't care or you just don't have a clue as an owner/manager. Keep in mind these are not cheap entrees. Sandwiches are $10, most entrees are $17-23. This is North Myrtle Beach, not Miami Beach. Expectations are high for those prices. We order some more drinks, ask for a few minutes as we cannot read the menu well. We ordered the following: Crab dip appetizer. It comes with not-enough nachos, cheese in the crab dip?, lumps of crab, and not a lot of flavor. I would never order it again if I actually was insane enough to come back. Fried Flounder Sandwich with regular waffle fries - Apparently it was the "worst fish sandwich I've ever had, no flavor, useless" and they sent sweet potato fries instead of regs. Capellini Pasta with Grouper - This was a gut-buster. While the pasta sounded good for this person at the time, seeing capellini, a.k.a. angel hair to some, was very out of place. She ordered it anyway, got about 4 bites in, and said "I'm done". Not cool. I tried it, it tasted like a miserable seafood pasta dish. Flavorless alfredo-like base mixed with hate and carelessness. I wouldn't recommend to a corpse. The other two of us ordered the sauteed crab cakes. I am from VA so my expectations are high. Duffy's down the street has one of the better crab cakes I've had in recent memory so I figured 'why not'? For $17, I'm looking forward to these "Award-winning" crab cakes...despite the fact that Flounders has been open a mere two weeks at this point. These disgusting cakes come out infused with dough-like fillers. There was no flavor. They were soggy, undercooked, and shameful. It was the worst crab cake I have ever had in my entire life. I'm grimacing as I type this. I grew up in a family that finishes their meals, and none of us could come close to finishing. We didn't even box this garbage up for the dog it was so damned bad. Other thoughts: The only good thing I had, in my opinion, were the sweet potato waffle fries. They are frozen and come in a bag from probably Sysco, which is why they were good. The kitchen staff had nothing to do with them. Our server lied to us when we asked if the fish was local. She should have just said "I don't know, we've only been open for two weeks". Side note, they've been trying to open since early summer, late spring. Sketch. There are no scallops on the menu. Why? They're scallops, an absolute essential to seafood fare. Just...clueless. One of us ordered a liquor drink, and it came back with the wrong liquor, so strong I wouldn't even drink it, and was promptly taken off the check and returned. The fact that all four of us were extremely disappointed is what the real issue is here. You've gotta screw up in a pretty serious way to piss off four 20 and 30-somethings. So we ask our server to please fetch the manager as we would like to simply inform him/her that this meal was the worst meal we have ever had for 85 bucks. 15 minutes goes by. We decide to leave as our server does not come back. We do notice several staff members coming upstairs to the outside deck and standing around at the stairs. They would glance over at us from time to time. We determined that they appeared to be waiting for some "showdown" or something between us and the manager. We found it very, very weird as we were a pretty chill crowd. The manager ended up being one of the ones upstairs staring at us. Yet he never came over to speak to us. He was approached by one of us. This kid looked pre-pubescent. He was neither friendly nor helpful. He didn't offer to take anything off the bill, nor did we ask because we don't roll like that. The server would have gotten the appropriate 20% because really none of this was her fault. But she was a coward and never came back to followup as a good server does. I've been there, I know. So all in all, everyone from the bartender to the kitchen to the server to the "manager" completely flailed in every aspect. Now you see why this is the worst meal I have had since the 90's. This place needs to change their name to Floppers and shut down forever.

By reading the reviews, my Dad and I still decided to check the place out. We saw the place being build for awhile and were excited it was finally open. We talked to our server about how long they have been open and other questions - he was very friendly and explained the menu and how their sauces were all made in house. After looking over the menu, it was an easy choice - we both ordered the flounder sandwich; one fried and one blackened. The sandwich was huge! I honestly have had a lot of flounder sandwiches and they are usually very skinny - meaning little meat. Not the case at Flounders! My blackened flounder sandwich was amazing, served hot on a nice 8-inch hoagie with three sides! Along with the sandwich were hush puppies, coleslaw and another choice of a side - I picked waffle fries with seasoning. My dad picked the sweet potaoe fries - both were great too. His fried flounder was great - it was cooked right too and was just as big as my blackened flounder sandwich. Both sandwiches come with their famous sauce - great addition, but no need to use it since the flavor of the sandwich was great - no need to take away from it. Everything was fresh and arrived quickly. Our friends were coming to visit and we ended up coming back the next day with them. We were so pleased we wanted to show the place off! Again, a great meal - we had flounder sandwiches, flounder salad and oysters before. Everything was amazing. You'll be pleased! We'll be back - the low rating of other visitors should change your mind. Try it for yourself. The service was great and food was fantastic!

Great fresh food. Everything seemed to be made to order.we will definitely be back. Our server was great, he made us feel very welcomed and had great drink suggestions. Loved everything about our experience. A must go for anyone living or vacationing in north myrtle beach.

Came for lunch. Party of 2 and we were only the second table in the place. Took over 30 mins to get our food when other people came after us and received their food earlier. We ordered the crab cake sliders ($9.99). Great for the price, however the sweet potato fries were cold and soggy when our food finally arrived. Good lunch drink specials. ($5 double shot margaritas). Waitstaff was friendly. May return in the future for drinks if in the area.

This is the first time, in over 35 years, that I left absolutely nothing for a waitress. Never even a smile, she was much more focused on eating her food at the bar, chatting with her friends. The sweet potato waffle fries were stone cold and when we got up from our table, went over to inform our "server" as she was shoving food in her face, we waited another 15 minutes only to get yet another round of cold fries. The "World Famous" seafood soup was nothing short of greasy and gross. I can truly say this was one of the worst meals and dining experiences of my life. I will be totally amazed if they are still in business in 6 months. Horrible!!

Service was very slow. When we did get it, it looked great, but all of it was cold! I would like to give them a 2nd chance, but I think I'll wait until I see some good reviews! Parking is across the street, behind another business.
